Music Composer

Shirley Song is a composer for film, TV and visual Media. Her most recent credits include “XO, Kitty”, “A Tourist’s Guide To Love” and “Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star.” She is currently the composer for the upcoming Netflix animation series, “Exploding Kittens” and the Amazon film, “Five Blind Dates.”

Shirley Song is an Australian-born Chinese composer based in sunny Los Angeles. She is known for her work across film and television, including Netflix’s XO, Kitty, the television spinoff of the To All the Boys film series; Netflix’s Exploding Kittens; the Apple TV+ film Lulu is a Rhinoceros; the Apple TV+/DreamWorks series Be@rBricks, with legendary producer Timbaland serving as music executive producer; the Amazon Prime film Five Blind Dates; the Netflix romantic comedy A Tourist’s Guide to Love; and the 2021 Netflix holiday film The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star, starring Vanessa Hudgens. Her latest film, Slanted, premiered at SXSW, where it won the Narrative Feature Grand Jury Award, and was released theatrically in March 2026.

Shirley has also contributed to numerous films and television series, including Pixar’s Onward (2020), The Addams Family (2019), HBO Max’s Julia, Disney’s Mira, Royal Detective, season two of the CBS series Strange Angel, Netflix’s Alias Grace, the Oscar-nominated film The Breadwinner, and DreamWorks/Netflix’s Tales of Arcadia universe: 3Below, Wizards, and Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans, created by Guillermo del Toro.

A graduate of the University of Sydney/Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Composition with Honours, and of Berklee College of Music’s Film Scoring program, Shirley has also had her concert music performed at prestigious venues across Sydney, including the Sydney Opera House.

In 2023, Shirley was selected as one of twelve composers for the Composer Filmmaker Accelerator at the Vancouver International Film Festival, where her music was recorded and performed by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. She is currently one of eight composers selected for the NBCUniversal Composers Initiative (2024–2026).

When she is not composing or making music, Shirley can usually be found spoiling her furry friends, trying to pat every dog she meets, or training kickboxing and Muay Thai at her fight gym.
